Taking care of Canadian Sphynx
First and foremost – no need to clean the fur from your clothes every day. But no need to wash your cat everyday either.
Yes, these cats sweat, just like people do and as a result they get a brown touch all over their body and it can be easily washed.
How often do I have to bathe my sphinx?
It depends on how often your cat gets dirty.
Your cat can get dirty while feeding, that’s why the best food for sphynx is something with less fat. I’ve tried different brands but my cats like Canadian Pronature best. It makes their skin clearer. Even the black dots on the chin and tail have disappeared.
Sphynxes get dirty fast when it’s hot. If you don’t want to bathe your cat too often you can wipe it with wet cloth. For bathing you can use kids shampoo or mild soap.
Wipe eyes and ears once in 2-3 days, or when it’ necessary. Use special lotions.
Cut the claws at least once a month. You have to be carefull and cut only the outgrowth part of the claw. Don’t forget to clean the claws.
Sometimes after feeding you can see bits of food around cat’s mouth. Clean it with a cloth so doesn’t get stuck there and bother your cat.
And the most important thing to do is to clean cat’s toilet in time! Some cats won’t even use if it’s not clean and you don’t want them to mess around the house.
Remember to get all the needed vaccination for your cat before it turns one year – 3 anti-viral shots (when it’s 2 and 3 monts old and 1 year old) and a rabies shot.
Well, that’s about all that you have to know! And believe me – these things you have to take care about are nothing compared to the joy you cat will bring you!
